About the Author:
The author is a structural engineer with professional building design experience as the Engineer-of-Record for dozens of structures in the public and private sectors. He has lectured at the postgraduate and undergraduate university level in structural engineering subjects for the past 20 years and has several publications in high-impact international journals such as the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, ACI Structures Journal, Elsevier Journal of Construction and Building Materials, the IStructE Structures Journal (by Elsevier), and at international conferences such as the World Conference in Earthquake Engineering and the U.S.A National Conference in Earthquake Engineering. His particular interests are: performance-based seismic design, seismic evaluation and retrofit design, nonlinear dynamics, probabilistic mechanics, composite materials, and quality engineering in the AEC sector. He is an associate member of the ASCE/SEI building code committee for ASCE 41 Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings, for the 2017 edition, and at present for the ASCE 41-23 currently under development.
